I’ve realized I need to be more social and fun, so I’m going to brag about all the wonderful things I’ve made this week.
Regular Scarf
I’m so proud of myself with how much I’ve gotten done this week. It’s a wonder how much stress can help motivate me to get my behind in gear. So I played magical looms all week, switching between the looms as I finished projects.
One of my last projects of the week was this beautiful scarf. I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do other than play with some alpaca yarn. I ended up making this with three different colored alpaca yarn and one wool. It turned out lovely.
Since my week hasn’t ended just yet, I started another scarf! This one is made with wool I got from my trip to Ireland and alpaca from Stoney Meadow Alpacas. It’s almost done, but still can’t wait to get it off the loom!
Infinity Scarf
The infinity scarves are made on the same loom as the regular scarf. I managed to finish 3 infinity scarves! All the while watching Halloween themed movies and the Hallmark TV show Good Witch. It’s such a cute show.
Anywho, I knew I wanted to make some infinity scarves for my next craft show. Since I only have one done, I knew I had to kick my butt and race to get some done. That’s how I managed to play around with all my different wools and create three beautiful infinity scarves.
This one, however is made with cotton and alpaca. Not gonna lie, I totally played yarn chicken on this one, right up to the end! It was very nerve wrecking seeing my balls of yarn slowly disappear and the loom fill in. I didn’t breathe a sign of relief until I cut the yarn for the last pass through. But in the end it turned out beautiful! I am very happy with it.
Rectangle Cowl
Here’s is my newest creation and I love it! I have the cutest baby rectangle loom that I create these adorable cowls on. I weave the front, then cut fleece backs to sew on. Then I found these wonderful snaps called KAM snaps that I use to snap the cowl on.
Here are a few done ones.
I managed to weave 3 of fronts this week and had one woven from last week that I haven’t managed to sew the back on yet. I cut out all the backs. so now all I have to do is sew them together and put the snaps on.
Triangle Cowl
This past weekend I traded in my 6ft triangle loom for a small 3ft triangle loom. Naturally, I had to test it out and play around with it. Why the 3ft? Well when I was making my decision I happened to see this lovely neck cowl that can also be used as a hood that my aunt created off the 3ft. I thought that size cowl will make a perfect addition to my new rectangle cowls so I had to try it!
I started with my wools, not wishing to deplete my alpaca yarn pile just yet. And look how cute it came out! It doesn’t look like much off a model, but it’s super cute. I just have to finish weaving in the ends and wash it before it’s completely done.
Fingerless gloves
One of my more popular items are my hand knitted fingerless gloves. Believe it or not, I really enjoy knitting these. I’ve knitted so many that now I don’t have to think about the pattern, I can just knit as long as I know what row I’m on.
This week, I decided it was time to start knitting my gloves with alpaca. So here are my first two alpaca fingerless gloves. *The yarn matches some scarves I have.
Felted Soap
Now that I have roving, it was beyond time that I started felting soap. I made my first attempt this week. At first it didn’t go so well. The problem was i didn’t tie the ends of my stocking so the soap wouldn’t slide out while I was attempting to felt it. When I corrected this, by sacrificing two small hair ties, I managed to felt a few bars without much trouble. Yay me! Now I can start playing around with the felt.
My goal is to eventually be able to put cute designs in the felt like hearts and stars. But for now I will just accept the simple plain felted soap until I get better at it.
Onto the Next Week
This week has come to an end, so now it’s time to look forward to what I will make next week! I plan to play some more musical looms and get a lot more beautiful products made. Stay tuned to next week!
