When I started, I had no idea where it was going to take me. It has had many different faces over the last few years, but I think in 2018 I have finally found my home in fiber arts. And in 2020, I finally have a name that will grow with my brand; Cobblestone Alpacas.

I am self-taught in knitting (2011), cold process soaps (2014), lotions (2015), yarn dying (2017), and felting (2017). I’ve learned spinning (2012), frame loom weaving or continuous strand loom weaving (2012), and peg loom weaving (2017) from Theresa Jewell of Stoney Meadows Alpacas. I’ve taken classes with The Knitting Studio for the knitting machine (2019). I use all of these skills and more to bring you beautiful, hand crafted products for you, your friends, and your family.

Now that you’re here, please check out my shop to find fantastic handmade items for sale! Want to see my items in person? Check out the Events page for upcoming vending events near you!

Where did Cobblestone Alpacas start?

I started Cobblestone Alpacas to help me un-bury my apartment. I love playing with yarn and I’ve discovered a love for making my own soaps and lotions too. Very quickly my small studio apartment filled with all my wonderful creations. Friends and family received a ton of handmade products over the years and something told me they were happy to hear I’d found somewhere else to get rid of my creations.

I started selling my soaps and hand woven items at small local craft shows. It was at my first few shows that I knew I found a home. I loved all the wonderful comments I received about my products and when I sold that first bar of soap I couldn’t believe it! I could actually do something I love to do and make money. Who knew?

Focusing on Fiber Arts

Most of my yarn crafts I learned from Theresa Jewell co-owner of Stoney Meadows Alpacas and Stone Mountain Looms. She is like an aunt and is also one of my favorite awesome yarn nerd friends.

With the purchase of Stone Mountain Looms, Theresa and husband Chuck asked me to help them attend events to help promote and teach weaving on their continuous strand looms. Of course the answer was yes! I love weaving on the looms and I enjoy corrupting teaching others to love this type of weaving too. Soon after, Theresa and I started writing patterns for the looms and now have a collection of weaving books. You can find information on them here.

The more I learn about the fiber world and fiber farms the more I want to fully emerge myself in that world. I’ve always enjoyed visiting Theresa’s farm and playing with her alpaca, even when Simon is threatening to spit at me for getting to close to the cria (baby alpaca) or trying to eat my hair when I’m not looking.

Simon, he’s my favorite not so secretly 🙂

I’m looking forward to what the future will bring! And I am so happy you are here to share it with me.
