Here we are, another month gone since I started my journey into monetization. I have to admit, I did not do very well this month. I feel like I’m making excuses, but I literally hit a wall in my mental health. Half way through June, my brain just did not want to function. It took me awhile to realize I was mentally exhausted.
Due to my mental exhaustion, I did not manage to meet many of my goals for Bubbles ‘n Stitches in June. But that is not discouraging me! I have a new life plan in place to help me with my mental health and keep me sane while I continue on this journey.
I’ll expand on my plan and my crazy June in another post coming soon.
My goal to make this my full time job has not disappeared. I just need to reset and attack my goals from a different angle and make it happen!
One thing my friends always comment on is how when I say I’m going to do something, I make it happen. Could be right now, could be in 10 years. Doesn’t matter how long it takes me, when I want something I will make it happen. Maybe my tenacity will encourage to keep going too!
Well, that was a longggggg sob story. Enough of that, let’s get to the reason why you’re here; The Numbers.
Traffic and Income Report
Traffic/Page Views
Since I’m a weirdo and I like to see all the numbers together, here’s April, May and June’s numbers all together. Let’s take a look at how I did…
April | May | June | |
Blog Page Views | 383 | 573 | 412 |
Blog Followers | 9 | 10 | 10 |
Facebook Followers | 45 | 46 | 50 |
Newsletter Subscribers | 13 | 15 | 22 |
Whelp, my goal was 800+ page views for June… I made half of that? Does that count? I still kept my number about 400 so I am happy with myself. It’s not a lot but it’s still higher than April, so I’m calling it a win.
I’m sad I have not inspired anyone else to start following my blog, but hey you have to put in the work to get followers and I didn’t last month. I fell way behind and became too overwhelmed to even think. In other words, I barely did anything via this blog and the numbers reflect that.
I was excited to see my facebook followers and Newsletter subscribers have both increased! I’m thinking that had to do more with me having a show this month than anything else. But still, exciting.
Seeing facebook followers and newsletter subscribers increase is a HUGE relief to me. It shows that I can do this even if I have an off month. That means, you don’t have to worry about having a bad week or in my case, month. Some of your numbers will go down, but you never know, some might rise too.
Income
Here’s where I’m worried. I know I didn’t come anywhere near what I’d like to be making but every little penny helps.
I did have an event this month. The Keuka Arts Festival was fun, but no where near what I thought it would be. I just barely made back my vending fee, but I did get a lot of newsletter subscribers. Have to look at the positive. Profit may not have been there, but at least I’m starting to get my name out there and people are starting to follow me more. In my book, that’s a win.
As mentioned before, I fell behind in my blog posts and you can see that reflected in my Google Adsense earnings. They did not grow at all.
I did start adding Amazon Affiliate links to one or two posts, but I have not earned any money yet. There have been a few clicks, but I have not earned anything. I’ll just have to keep adding them in and fingerscross, start making money through the links.
As for patterns, I only published a few this month. Once again, that is reflected my pattern sales. I will have to work on posting them regularly. Perhaps not as many a month as last month, but a few a month may keep the interest there.
Here’s my income breakdown:
Google Adsense: $0.20
Online Pattern Sales: $5.00
June Events: $80.00
Blog Income Total: $5.20
June All Together Total: $85.20
*Not great, but not bad either. I wish I’d made more than $100, but I am happy with the $85.20. Let’s hope this month will be better. Fingers crossed!
Expenses
One good thing about going crazy and not really working on my blog is I didn’t spend any money this month. I paid all my vending fees last month, and I didn’t add any new subscription. When I can, I always pay for the full year and be done with expenses.
Expense Breakdown:
Total Expenses: $0
Total Profit: $85.20
Last month I had about $58 in profits after taking out expenses. That means I am actually doing better financially this month. Go me!
I don’t want to make bad months a habit. I hope I am moving past my problems and my plans will work out a little better this month. Wish me luck!
July 2019 Goals
I have to say this is probably my favorite part of the month even if I don’t get everything accomplished. I just love having goals to work towards that I know are helping me reach my goal of approximately $3000 a month.
Publish 6 Blog Posts
My goal in June was 8 posts, I managed to write and publish 6. Once again so close, and yet so far. I think the stress of trying to bang out 8 informative interesting posts contributed to my mental stress. I’m going to drop the number to 6 since I’ve managed that for 2 months now. I think I will be able to meet this goal. And if I’m feeling ambitious, I could write more. But the goal is 6.
Reach 800 Page Views
I’m not giving up on this goal! I almost reached 600 views in May. I think, with enough dedication to Bubbles ‘n Stitches I can get my views up to 800. Just gotta keep at it and use Tailwind better.
2-4 Patterns
Why is this number so low? It’s because I’ve started working on our next pattern book and I don’t want to sacrifice my time making patterns for the book for individual patterns. When we get closer to the book release I’ll start releasing patterns that will appear in the book. Until then, I’m trying to write patterns for shapes and looms I don’t have patterns for yet.
I may start adding some knitting patterns too. I have my fingerless glove pattern ready to go, just not sure if anyone would be interested. Guess I can always post it and see what happens.
Collect More Followers and Newsletter Subscribers
I’m surprised and excited by the increase in followers and subscribers this month. It’s shown me that I can grow a great following if I continue giving out great information. I’m going to try my best to keep going.
If you don’t get my Newsletter yet, you should! It tells you all sorts of great information, like what shows I’ll be at, when the next book is coming out, new patterns, sales, and more!
Thank you for taking a look at my June 2019 Blog Report. It’s a little out there, but I am learning and improving every month. And I’m hoping to make July my best month yet!
Not gonna let a little thing like beautiful weather stop me! I’ll just bring my looms and laptop outside. BAM! Problem solved 🙂
I am looking forward to July’s numbers already. I have the Webster Waterfront Arts Festival at the end of the month and I’ve heard GREAT things about the customers. I’m hoping to get more views which means more passive income and I’m hoping to sell some more patterns.
I’m going to keep going until I can’t anymore. I’ve got this!
Until next time!
